one down, one to go

i am now the proud finisher of one manly sock, and it fits him like a charm. i’ve cast on for the second.
note to self: do kid-size socks next – adult men’s size 13 take forever…

knitting envy
as a struggling knitter (i just had to tink 5 sets of k1, ssk in the manly sock, because i missed one – argh!), i look at the more accomplished denizens of the knitting world with awe, wonderment, and yes, a tiny touch of knitting envy.
these mighty knitters seem to crank out the projects with ever-increasing levels of difficulty. they modify and customize at the drop of a hat (on purpose)! they knit – and get paid for it!
some of my favourite expert knitters, like eunny jang (before she joined interweave), little purl of the orient, or wendy knits – reveal a seemingly endless supply of crafted goodies. i drool over the gorgeous photos of coloursknits, chortle over the witty ramblings of the yarn harlot and knit and tonic, and swoon over the efforts of brooklyn tweed..
my knitting brain is growing much faster than my mad knitting skillz. however, i think i may have identified the source of the problem. have you noticed how many knitters have cats? not only are they cat-owners, they are cat-lovers.
we are catless. could this be the solution?
